  • Concept designs of special purpose test equipment for the automotive and truck OEM market.
  • Detailed drawings of special purpose test equipment for the automotive and truck OEM market.
  • Design work included; drive train, structural, stress analysis, hydraulics, hydrostatic bearings, brake disc, and flywheel design
  • Such equipment included rolling road chassis dynamometers for Chrysler, Exxon, De-Lorean, BL and VW, together with gearbox test rigs and robots for simulating driving conditions.
  • Further responsibilities included co-ordinating design requirements with customers, supervising detail draftsmen, co-operating with the sub-contractors and with detailed analytical engineering of specialised sub assemblies.

  • Sponsored by the company through University and providing basic engineering training through their apprentice training school, with further training in casting technology, rolling mill technology, design and drafting, production engineering and research and development.
  • On completion of the degree course work was undertaken in production engineering and later in process development engineering. Working on the development of high technology process equipment used in the manufacture of hacksaw blades, including electron beam welding machines and special purpose rolling mills.
